Bringing Verna’s landscape vision to life was an exciting and collaborative journey. Starting with a completely undeveloped lot, Greenway meticulously designed a space that captured her unique aesthetic and functional needs. Verna likened the process to shopping at Nordstrom—Greenway provided an array of curated ideas, allowing her to select the perfect elements to craft her ideal outdoor space, like putting together the perfect outfit.
One of the most exciting design challenges was incorporating a custom fire table that would serve as a central gathering space, perfectly positioned to create a warm and inviting ambiance. The unique "Art Deco" Belgard retaining wall was transformed into an elegant focal point by seamlessly integrating a soothing water fountain feature, adding both visual appeal and tranquil sound. The selection of mature strawberry trees provided an instant sense of establishment and maturity, enhancing the lushness of the space.
A critical aspect of the design was achieving a harmonious balance between hardscape and softscape. Paver pathways and steppers wrapped in artificial turf introduced clean, modern lines while reducing maintenance. The use of distinct materials for defining spaces brought an artistic edge, enhancing the overall aesthetic. One of the standout features is the “wet look” dry creek bed at the entrance, creating a polished and sophisticated first impression.
